Book Award Winners
Alex Awards: This award is given to 10 books every year that were originally published for adults but may appeal to teens too.
North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA): North Carolina students vote on their favorite book of the year. The 2011 winner was Playing With Matches by Brian Katcher.
National Book Award (Young People's Award): This award is sometimes given to a YA book. 2011's winner was Inside Out and Back Againby Thanhha Lai.
Odyssey Award: This award is for the best audio book of the year. The 2012 award went to Rotters (written by Daniel Kraus and narrated by Kirby Heybourne).
Michael L. Printz Award: This award is for the best YA book published in the previous year. The 2012 winner was Where Things Come Back (John Corey Whaley).
Teen Top Ten: Teens nominate and vote for 10 books to get this award every year.
William C. Morris YA Debut Award: This award goes to an author who wrote his/her first YA book. The 2012 winner is Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley.
YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults: This award honors the best nonfiction book written for young adults in the last year. The 2012 winner was The Notorious Benedict Arnold: A True Story of Adventure, Heroism, and Treachery by Steve Sheinkin.
